The Pennsylvania
State Rabbit Breeders Association would like to encourage all youth in
Pennsylvania to participate in the wide range of activities and contests
we offer. At the PA State
Convention, youth may enter the Educational Contest
which
includes rabbit and cavy
record books, informational posters, informational displays, rabbit/cavy
artwork, rabbit/cavy short story, and rabbit/cavy photograph or photograph
series.
The Royalty Contest looks
for youth to advertise our fancy. The
Lord, Lady, Prince, and Princess must complete an application, take a written
test, identify breeds and/or varieties of rabbits/cavies, participate in an
interview and do showmanship on their own animal. The Duke and Duchess must complete an application, take a
written test, identify breeds and/or varieties of rabbits/cavies, participate in
an interview, judge one class of four rabbits/cavies, and do showmanship on
their own animal. The King and
Queen must complete an application, take a written test, identify breeds and/or
varieties of rabbits/cavies, participate in an interview, judge one class of
four rabbits/cavies, and give a promotional talk.

Two other contests offered at the convention are the
Breed and Identification Contest and the
Rabbit/Cavy Judging Contest. By these
contests we hope to educate our youth and prepare them for the national
competition.
In an effort to
offer more to our youth and an example set by ARBA, we are now offering an
Achievement
Contest as well as a Management Contest. Both contests can be entered
by youth attending convention or not. The
Management Contest also holds a
special place in our hearts as a memorial to a Pennsylvania rabbit breeder, Carol Prosseda,
that recently passed away in a automobile accident. She showed many breeds
and won some and lost some. However, she LOVED helping youth with their
rabbits and promoting the breeds she loved. Carol cared about the
fellowship and fun and not about winning. She will be missed by many.
